Trick Or Treat For Adults: Spooktacular Cocktails.

It’s that time of year again where all the ghouls and goblins come out to play. Who says that youngsters are the only ones allowed to have some fun? This year the adults are going to have some fun. Trick or treat for adults with spooktacular cocktails, and you can save $8.00 on all of your favorites, and I have six spooktacular cocktails to help you celebrate.

Spiced Caramel Apple Hot Toddy:Spiced Hot Toddy:

This spiced caramel apple hot toddy is the perfect fall cocktail, combining warm spices with sweet caramel and apples to create the ultimate cocktail for the entire season. With a little bourbon kick, this drink is sure to keep your blood warm and the ghosts and goblins away.

Ingredients:

1) 3 ounces of Bulleit Boutbon

2) 1 cup of Apple Cider

3) 1/2 a cup of Fresh Orange Juice + 1 whole orange slice

4) 8 caramel candies

5) 1 splash of water

6) 1 cinnamon stick

7) Star Anise

8) 8 whole cloves

To Make:

In a small saucepan combine apple cider, orange juice, four caramel candies, cinnamon stick. Star anise, and whole cloves, and simmer for 15 minutes until fragrant and the caramels have melted, stir occasionally. In two heat proof glasses, add 1 1/2 ounces of Buillet Bourbon to each glass.

Take the remaining four caramels, a splash of water, place in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds- one minute on high until caramels are melted and smooth. ( Alternately you can melt the caramels on the stove top in a double boiler. )

Strain the spiced warmed apple cider into each glass equally, stir with the bourbon, and garnish an apple slice, and drizzle the melted caramel over the rim of each glass. Serve immediately.

Pink Starburst Martini:Strwberry Martini:

Everyone’s favorite Starburst flavor ( pink, duh ) is now in drink form, trick or treat for adults. A refreshing Strawberry Starburst inspired martini is the perfect cocktail for any and all celebrations, especially Halloween.

Ingredients:

1) 3 ounces of vodka

2) 1 ounce of Strawberry flavored seltzer or sparkling water

3) 1 ounce of strawberry kiwi juice

4) Pink Starbursts to garnish

To Make:

In an ice filled cocktail shaker, add in the Vodka and Strawberry Kiwi Juice. Shake vigorously until well combined and chilled. You will it’s well chilled when condensation forms on the outside of the shaker. Strain into a martini glass and top off with 1 1/2 ounces of strawberry flavored seltzer water. Garnish with pieces of pink Starbursts. Enjoy

Winking Witches Brew:Put A Spell On:

This quick and easy recipe is perfect for your Halloween get together with friends! We added a Twizzlers garnish around the rim and a Twizzlers straw to give it a fun Halloween look that goes perfectly with the spooky purple cider. Enjoy

Ingredients:

1) 6 ounces of blackberry juice

2) 1 ounce of simple syrup

3) 2 ounces of Tito’s Vodka

4) Ice

5) Blackberries for a garnish ( optional )

6) Black licorice Twizzlers ( Three per cocktail )

For the blackberry juice, twelve ounces of fresh or frozen blueberries half a cup of water in a saucepan, combine 12 ounces of fresh or frozen blueberries with 1/2 a cup of water. Heat until boiling and let simmer for ten minutes. Once fully cooked through, mash the berries and strain until only the juice remains.

To Make:

In a tumbler combine the two berry juices with one ounce of the simple syrup and two ounces of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and stir together and stir with a swizzle stick. Top with ice and garnish with a cut Twizzlers, for a candy swizzle stick. More trick or treat for adults.

 

Frankenbride Bellini:

It’s scary how perfect this freaky take on a Bellini is for kicking off your Halloween favorites. The basic witches give this cocktail two broomsticks up.

Ingredients:

Ghouls Delight:

1) 1/2 ounce of Vodka

2) 1/2 ounce of Kiwi puree

3) Proseco

4) Fresh blackberries for the garnish ( optional ) but recomended

To Make:

Cut and core a fresh kiwi, then blend into a puree using a blender. Combine 1/2 ounce of puree with Vodka and stir together. Pour kiwi and vodka mixture into a champagne flute. Top off with proseco. Garnish with three blackberries on a pick across the top of the flute. Perfect for a brunch or lunch date.

Ghostly Gin and Tonic:

Spooky Gin and Tonic:

Looking to switch up your usual Gin and Tonic? This cocktail should do trick ( or treat) Mix up this perfect ghostly Gin and tonic to celebrate all the hauntings of Halloween. It’s scary delicious.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Gin

2) 1 Lt, Bottle of Tonic water

3) Ice, we like our cocktails cold around here

4) 1 bag of mini gummy worms

To Make:

Take mini gummy worms and empty into ice cube trays. Fill the trays with your favorite tonic water and freeze for eight + hours, or overnight. Remove ice cubes and toss into your favorite glass. Add in more tonic water and two ounces of Gin. Garnish with additional gummy worms and serve.

 

Ghoulish Gin- Ger Ale:Spooky Ginger Ale:

This gory cocktail is bloody delicious! Feel free to substitute Vodka in place of Gin. ( we even like whiskey for this one ) This cocktail is essentially a dirty Shirley,but we upped the scare factor with the garnish. We made these creepy ice cubes by freezing gummy candies in an ice cube tray with water.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Gin

2) 4 ounces of Ginger Ale

3) 1 ounce of Grenadine syrup

4) 2-3 Dashes of Cranberry Bitters

To Make:

In a rocks glass with ice combine Gin and Ginger Ale. Gently pour Grenadine around the inside edges of the glass and garnish with scary accessories. Serve with a straw or swizzle stick to stir the Grenadine before drinking the cocktail.

I prefere Not To Drink In Public: Stay home and drink instead

Just like the title says, I prefer not to drink in public. Stay home and drink instead, and I have a few reasons why I do not like to drink in public. You may think that they are funny reasons, or a little crazy. So let me know what you think.

Reason Number One:Number One:

Now, lets get right to the first reason that I prefer not to drink in public. The reason is that people out there these days are crazy. You can’t even look at another person without offending them. It’s like everyone has turned into a bunch of little babies who are still suckling on their mothers breasts.

Look, I’m not saying that everyone out there is like this, maybe it’s me and the era that I grew up in. You walked into a bar back in my day, and people were happy to see you. They asked how your week was, or how was your day.

You go into a bar today and everyone looks at you like you have some nerve for coming there. I thought that going out to have a drink was supposed to be to have a little fun. At least where I live people suck. How are the people where you live? I want to know if you have the same issues as me.

Reason Number Two:Number Two:

Reason number two that I prefer not to drink in public is the cost. Besides how crazy everyone is these days, the last time I went out for a beer, they wanted four dollars for one stinking beer. Back in my Navy days, when I went to a bar for an ice-cold long neck, it cost me a dollar fifty.

I mean come on they have’nt done anything to improve the taste of the beer that I drink. There has been no improvement in the package, so why has the cost of the product gone up so much? I get inflation, but come on one beer for four bucks, for that price add one more dollar and you can buy a six-pack at your local beverage mart.

I know, I’m showing my age, and I usually give you a few cocktail recopies in my articles. I, just felt like throwing out a small rant this weekend. Is there anyone out there that feels the same way that I do about this? Please leave me a comment, I want to know.

Reason Number Three:Number Three:

The third reason that I prefer not to drink in public, is that in this point of my life I would rather sit in front of a fire and drink with friends and family. For me it is a lot better to stay home and drink with the people who bring the most joy in my life. Sounds funny that after the year and a half that we had, I still want to spend time with my family.

There is good news on the front as of today, they are saying that we are on our way down in the amount of infections and hospital intakes due to the virus. So soon we may be able to have a small gathering in our homes. This is good news with the holidays so close to being here.

I know that most of us have already been having gatherings in our homes, but soon we will be able to have more people join us for cocktails at Thanksgiving as well as Christmas. Just hang in there for a little while longer, now I want to get back to the cost. Reason number four why I prefer not to drink in public and stay home to drink instead is the most important reason of all. Once I start to drink, I don’t always like to stop. And I am too stubborn to pay for a taxi cab, uber lyft or any other way that costs money to get my drunk butt home.

I prefer to stay home and drink so that I can continue to drink more than one or two, and not have to worry about getting pulled over by law enforcement. Getting a DWI would be one of the worst things that can happen. Then there is the fact that I could end up causing an accident and killing someone. That would be something that I would never be able to forgive myself for.

Tacking the life of another human being is the ultimate sin, I would never be able to recover from doing it. What about you, could come back from causing the death of another human being? And it’s not just cost of the legal fees that you will need pay for, or the time spent behind bars for killing someone, that is something that will always be on my mind. I am the reason that a mother or father, or brother, or sister sits in a dark room crying themselves to sleep at night. If they are even able to sleep.

Yes this is why I prefer to not drink in public and stay home and drink instead. I can drink as much as I want and not have to worry about killing someone. Would you be able to forgive yourself if caused someones life to come to an end? I know for sure that I would not be able to .

Cocktails With Tequila: Some May Surprise You.

Cocktails with tequila, it’s time ti think outside the box. Usually when you hear tequila, you automaticly think margarita’s, well, we do have a margarita or two for you in today’s article. We also have a few others that just may surprise you.

Berry Margarita:Berry Margarita:

This is the perfect cocktail to start the fall season with. This is the time when all the berries are at their ripest, produces a bright, beautiful, pink color that is inviting to even the most timmid tipplers.

Ingredients:

1) 1 ounce of Cointreau

2) 1 1/2 ounces of Blanco Tequila

3) 1/4 ounce of Fresh Lime Juice

4) 3-4 Blackberries

To Make:

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, filled with ice. Strain over fresh ice in a sugar rimmed rocks glass. ( Short Glass ) Garnish with the blackberries. And enjoy.

Beso Caliente:Fall Warmer:

The perfect cocktail to warm up with after a cool fall day of raking leaves, or any other chores that has kept you outside.

Ingredients:

1) 1 ounce of DeLeon Tequila Resposada

2) 1/2 ounce of Lemon Juice

3) 1/2 ounce of Simple Syrup

4) 3-4 dashes of Angostura Bitters

To Make:

Shake first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a rocks glass. Float the Angostura Bitters. To float the bitters, shake over the back of a spoon.

Blue Margarita:

Team Blue:

Plus up your margarita with a touch of tropical flavor and a pop of color! Take Sauza Silver Tequila to the base of the cocktail and combine with DeKuyper Triple Sec, Blue Curacao and lime juice, for a margarita that is inticing to the eye as well as the palate.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Sauza Silver Tequila

2) 1 ounce of DeKuyper Triple Sec

3) 1/2 ounce of DeKuyper Blue Curacao

4) 2 ounces of Lime Juice

5) Lime slices and Blueberries to garnish ( optional )

To Make:

Combine all ingredients in an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into a margarita glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a slice of lime and or blueberries. Finish with some salt on the rim of the glass.

Blackberry Patio Crusher:Endless Summer:

Create an outdoor cocktail for all year with the blackberry patio crusher. The combination of zesty lemon and the sweet blackberries will be a refreshing choice no matter what time of year it is.

Ingredients:

1) 1 ounce of Sauza Signature Blue Silver Tequila

2) 1 ounce of Fresh Lemon Juice

3) 1 ounce of Simple Syrup

4) 5 Blackberries to muddle

To Make:

Put the blackberries in a cocktail shaker and muddle ( crush lightly ) just enough to get some of the juice to release from the berries. Add in ice and shake well. Serve in a rocks glass over fresh crushed ice. Top off with ginger beer or soda. Garnish with mint and blackberries.

Daylight Saver:Holiday Cocktail:

Evetbody loves a holiday cocktail that transitions seamlessly from day to night, especially when it’s tequila’s take on a savory classic.

Ingredients:

1) 3/4  ounce of Patron Silver

2) 3/4 ounce of Patron Citronage Orange

3) 3/4 ounce of Lillet Blanc

4) 3/4 ounce of Fresh Lime Juice

5) 1 bar spoon of Absinthe

6) Lime wheel for the garnish ( optional, but reccomemded )

To Make:

Combine all ingredients except absinthe into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake until well chilled. You will see condensation on the outside of the shaker, this tells you the mixture is chilled. Rinse a chilled cocktail coupe or martini style cocktail glass with the absinthe, discarding the excess liquid. Strain cocktail mixture into prepared glass. Garnish with a lime wheel, and enjoy. Best when shared with some friends.

Endless Summer:summer Is Not Over:

This is the perfect drink for when you are not ready to let go of summer. Fresh citrus juices, a good tequila to add a little bite, and then creme de cassis to balance it all out. We gaurantee that you will be sipping this into next season.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Tequila

2) 1 1/2 ounces of Fresh Orange Juice

3) 1/2 ounce of Fresh Lime Juice

4) 1/2 ounce of Cointreau

5) 1/2 ounce of Creme de Cassis

To Make:

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine all ingredients and shake until frosty and cold. Pour entire contents from the shaker into a rocks glass. And enjoy.

A Round Or Two With Jack Daniel’s: A Little Something ToWarm You Up.

Well here we are, at the end of another short summer. With the fall, brings those cool evenings, so you will need something to warm you up. I suggest you go a round or two with our old friend Jack Daniels. He has been there for us since high school, now it’s time to enjoy Jack Daniel;s in a more adult way. Here are a few ways to enjoy an old friend a ne w way.

Jack Apple Fizz:Jack Apple Fiz:

If you are one who likes the flavor of apple, this cocktail is right up your alley. With its bold bright apple flavor, you are going to want to have two or three of this libation.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple

2) 1/2 an ounce of Lemon Juice, fresh squeezed is best if you can.

3) Club Soda, or 7-UP to top off

To Make:

Pour Jack Daniel’s Apple and the lemon juice over ice. Top off with the soda of your choosing, and garnish with a lemon wheel ( optional ) A perfect and refreshing cocktail at the end of a long day. Enjoy.

Tennessee Apple:

This is one where two of our favorites come together to form one amazing cocktail. Old No. 7 and Jack Apple in one bold drink.

Apple Crisp:

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/4 ounces of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple

2) 3/4 ounce of Jack Daniel’s Old No.7

To Make:

Add both of the Jack Daniel’s to an ice filled glass and stir until well chilled. Then strain into a clean rocks glass ( short glass ). Add a green apple wedge to drive home that apple flavor, and enjoy.

Jack Apple Spritz:

Jack Apple Spritz:A Jack Apple twist on a refreshing classic. Jack Apple, Prosecco, and soda combine to deliver a light and crisp refreshment. Perfect for warming up on a cool fall night, or to cool off from a long hot day.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple

2) 3 ounces of Prosecco

3) Club soda or 7-UP to top off

To Make:

pour Jack Apple over some ice, we like our livations cold around here. Add the Prosecco to the glass, and top off with the club soda or 7-UP, whatever your preference is. Garnish with Granny Smith apple slices. ( optional ) Enjoy.

Jack Apple Chilled Shot:Chilled Apple Shot:

This is one that you will want to enjoy with friends, so make sure you have enough. And you only need one ingredient, which you will see in the recipe.

Ingredients:

1) Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple

To Make:

Before you can you enjoy this shot, you need to start the process the night before you plan to have. Start by placing your Jack Apple along with the shot glasses in the freezer. Leave these in the freezer overnight. The next day remove the glasses and the Jack Apple from the freezer, pour Jack Apple into the chilled shot glasses, and shoot em back.

Jack Apple Rocks:

Real crisp apples, real Jack Daniel’s. Apple flavor on ice that’s Jack to the core.

Jack On The Rocks:

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple

2) A couple of ice cubes

To Make:

This one is very simple, so simple that my three year old grandson can make this for me, not that I would allow him to do though. Pour Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple over the ice cubes, and enjoy.

Jack Apple Mule:A New Classic:

Put a spin on an old classic by using Jack Daniel’s Apple. With the real taste of apples and the unmistakable zing of ginger, you will want to keep this recipe handy for any occasion.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple

2) Ginger Beer

3) Fresh Lime Juice

To Make:

Pour Jack Apple over ice, add the lime juice, just a little unless you like it tart. Top off with the ginger beer and stir to combine ingredients. Add a lime wheel or wedge to garnish. ( optional )

Winter Jack Mimosa:Jack Mimosa:

A bold festive mimosa made the Jack way, perfect for a holiday gathering with friends and family, or for any Sunday brunch.

Ingredients:

1) 1 ounce of Jack Daniel’s Winter Jack

2) 1 ounce of Apple Cider

3) 1 ounce of Corbel Champagne

To Make:

Fill a champagne flute or stemless wine glass with 1 ounce of each ingredient. Serve chilled and enjoy. Share with friends or keep for yourself.

Jack Rye And Ginger:Jack And Ginger Highball:

This one is self explanatory.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Jack Daniel’s Tenessee Rye

2) Ginger Ale soda

To Make:

Fill a highball glass ( tall glass ) 3/4 the way with ice cubes. Pour Jack Daniel’s Rye over the ice, top off with Ginger Ale, and add a lime wedge for the garnish ( optional ). Enjoy.

Wine:Perfect For Anytime:

I do not know anyone who does not enjoy a good glass of wine, every once in a while, do you? I can bet that your mother likes a glass of wine, either with a meal, or when in good company.

Does she like a red wine, or perhaps mom would like a white wine? The only person who would know that is you. My wife likes a white muscato, a very sweet white wine. I already have two bottles chilling in the fridge for her, plus one bottle of red muscato. It is to bad that I never got the chance to find out what my mother’s favorite wine was, before she passed away.

If you don’t know what type of wine your mother likes to drink, the best advice I can give you is, pick up a bottle of each. Besides, you know that one bottle of wine is never enough, especially when there is more then one person drinking.

My choice for a red wine is Woodbridge Merlot by Robert Mondavi

My choice for a white wine is Risata Moscato d’Asti by the way this is the brand that I buy for my wife all the time, and she loves it. I am more of the red wine drinker, and I mostly drink a Merlot. Merlot has a low tanning level, not as drying to the mouth. The fewer tannins in a wine the less of the drying effect you will have, and vice versa with a wine that has a high tannin level. You will have a more drying effect. There is no drying effect with a muscato, just so you know.

Sparkling Wine:Champagne

This make a great last minute gift for mothers day, this one will make mom feel extra special. She will think that you spent a fortune on this beverage. You may know sparkling wine by its other name, champagne. Used to celebrate all kinds of occasions. Mother’s day should be no exception.

Mom always deserves to be celebrated, all year round. So, why not celebrate with some champagne? It is’nt as expensive as you think. You do not have to spend an arm and a leg in order to have a great time with someone that you love, and loves you with all her heart.

There are some inexpensive champagnes as well as some very pricey ones. Since I myself is always on a tight budget, I usually get one of the less expensive bottles of champagne.

The less expensive one of my choice is Champagne Nicolas Feuillate Brut

For the more expensive one, my choice is Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label again these are just suggestions, there are plenty of other champagnes to try. I am just looking out for your wallet or purse. You can however, get other champagnes, that have a high price tag on them. For me, I will stick with a plain old wine any day of the week, and save the champagne for New Years Eve.

Whiskey:Whiskey Dreams:

I don’t know your mother, so I don’t know if she likes to sip on a little whiskey now and then. Whiskey makes a great last minute gift for mother’s day, especially for the mothers who like a mellow sipping cocktail. Or, maybe she likes to mix it a bit. Add a little whiskey into a rocks glass, add some ice, and top off with some cola, or club soda.

You can find all kinds of recipes for mixing whiskey in another article on this site. I am always on the look out for cocktail recipes, hopefully you can find a cocktail that peaks your interest. The easiest way to mix whiskey is to simply follow the above recipe.

There are many whiskies on the market today, and can become confusing to figure out. This one you will have to experiment with in order to find the one that you like the best. I am going to give you my choice of whiskey that I like to drink. Hopefully this help you in your decision, and it will most likely surprise you.

My choice for a whiskey is, Crown Royal Deluxe Blended Canadian Whiskey

Bourbon:Popular Bourbons:

Now, if you have been here before you know that I love Bourbon. For some reason when everyone in my high-school was drinking Jack Daniel’s, I started drinking Jim Beam. I found Bourbon to be smoother than Jack Daniel’s. Plus no one wanted to drink Jim Beam, so that left me being the only one to drink it, and meant that I didn’t have to share my alcohol with anyone.

However if one of the girls wanted a smoother drink, of course I would share some with them. All of those girls are now mothers, and probably still prefer a smoother cocktail. Most of the women that I know like their drinks to be on the smoother and sweeter side of the spectrum.

Even with today being mothers day, you still have time to get mom something delivered her favorite alcohol. Most place that you live can have any of these liquors delivered in about one hour. So, don’t worry you still have time. My choice for Bourbon is Buffalo Trace

Mom has loved you since the day you were conceived. Before she ever met you, she carried you inside her for 9 months. When you finally arrived and got place in her arms, you brought a tear to her eyes. Ever since that day everything that she has done her life, has been all for you. So, on this day, her day and every day that you still have her in your life, you should celebrate her. And you know that mom will love a great cocktail to share with you.

Mother’s day is in just a few short days, today is Wednesday, and Mother’s day is this Sunday to be exact. Have you gotten mom something for her special day yet? No, well don’t worry, I have you covered. That is if you are willing to step outside the box and color outside the lines this year. Sure you can go to a nursery and buy some flowers to plant in the yard like you do every year. And that is perfectly fine, until the fall arrives and all the flowers wilt and die. My Heart Belongs To Bourbon: Always has and always will.

For those of you, who have been around here for a while, know that bourbon is my absolute favorite liquor to drink. I can drink neat, over the rocks, or mixed with some soda, or sweet tea. Today, I have a few cocktail recipes that use this versatile whiskey. You probably have already heard of one or two of them, but I think that the last one just might surprise you a little. So, why don’t you stick around for a bit? Maybe you will find a drink that tickles your fancy, and will want to give the cocktail a whirl. Perhaps I will start the party with one that I can’t live without. Will you join me on this little adventure, or are you going to sit this one out? What else better do you have to do on this rainy day?

Best Damn Sweet Tea Smash:Sweet Southern Tea:

Simple yet delicious, this riff on a classic cocktail perfectly blends the bite of bourbon and the smoothness of Best Damn Sweet Tea. Try it with muddled mint leaves for a cool, fresh finish.

Ingredients:

1) 5 ounces of Best Damn Sweet Tea

2) 1 ounce of Buffalo Trace Bourbon

3) 3/4 of an ounce of lemon juice

4) 1/4 ounce of sugar

To Make; Pour Best Damn Sweet Tea over ice into a chilled cocktail glass. Use a mason jar for that southern look. In a cocktail shaker, shake remaining ingredients together with some ice and strain into your glass. Garnish with fresh mint and a lemon wedge. Don’t forget to muddle some mint in the bottom of the shaker for a fresh taste.

Blackberry And Peach Infused Bourbon:Paradise In A Jar:

Some spirit lovers may raise an eyebrow to anything that alters the smooth flavor profile of bourbon, but trust me this infusion will keep even the most strict liquor aficionado coming back for more. The classic hints of sweetness in the bourbon are brought to a whole new level once combined with the natural flavors of fresh peach and blackberries. You can enjoy this cocktail infusion on its own over ice, or with a little ginger beer and a sprig of mint. Personally, I would drink it over ice, and forget the ginger beer.

Ingredients:

1) 2 peaches, peeled and sliced

2) 1/2 pint of blackberries, cut lengthwise

3) Buffalo Trace Bourbon

To Make; Place sliced peaches and blackberries into the bottom of a 1 1/2 pint mason jar, any jar of this size will do just fine, if you don’t have a mason jar. Fill the rest of the jar with a bourbon of your choice, I used Buffalo Trace, but you can use whatever you like. I think the Buffalo Trace has the perfect amount of sweetness to pair well with the fresh fruits. Seal the jar with a lid. Give the mixture a good shake to distribute the ingredients, and let sit in a cool dark place for up to three days, shaking occasionally. After three days, strain ingredients out through a fine mesh strainer, and place your infused bourbon into a sealed jar. Infusion will keep for several weeks after refrigerated.

Woodford Reserve Neat:

Simple Cocktail:

Sometimes, the best cocktails are poured straight from the bottle.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Woodford Reserve

To Make, This one is a no brainer. Pour two ounces of Woodford Reserve into a cocktail glass. And enjoy.

 

 

Capone:Seeing Double:

Two of Al Capone’s major imports were whiskey and balsamic vinegar, legend has it that he asked his people to make him a cocktail that used both of those ingredients. We went an extra step and included some garden fresh tomatoes. A sweet reminder of the home country. This recipe was adapted from the Bufala Negra cocktail.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Bourbon or Rye Whiskey

2) 2 ounces of Ginger Beer

3) 1/2 an ounce of Simple Syrup

4) 1/2 an ounce of Balsamic Vinegar

5) 3-4 fresh large basil leaves

6) 4-5 cherry tomatoes

To Make; In a cocktail shaker, muddle simple syrup, whiskey, balsamic vinegar, 2 sliced fresh basil leaves, and three chopped cherry tomatoes. Add some ice and shake vigorously for ten seconds, then strain into a rocks glass. Fill glass with fresh ice, and top off with Ginger Beer. Garnish with large basil leaves and one slice of a tomato.

Classy Classic:

Cherry Bourbon Smash:

What’s not to love about a refreshing soda paired with a delicious spirit? The muddled Maraschinos up the strong flavors in the soda and pairs perfectly with a smooth, oaky bourbon.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Buffalo Trace Bourbon

2) 1/2 an ounce of lemon juice

3) 2-3 Maraschino Cherries, muddled

4) Dr. Pepper soda

To Make; In the bottom of a cocktail shaker, muddle 2-3 maraschino cherries, lemon juice, and bourbon. Add some ice and shake until well chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. And top off with the Dr. Pepper soda, enjoy.

 

Bad Blood:Simply Irrisistable:

This bourbon based cocktail was mixed up with Taylor Swift’s chart topper Bad Blood in mind. It’s a strong drink with a kick of flavor. If your feuding with a friend and in the mood to just kick back and brood, this cocktail is for you.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Bourbon Whiskey

2) Fresh Blood Orange

3) 3 dashes of bitters

4) 1 sugar cube

5) 1 Maraschino Cherry

To Make; Slice the fresh blood orange and put 1-2 slices in the bottom of a rocks glass. Add the sugar cube, then add three dashes of bitters. Use a muddler to slowly crush the sugar into the orange slices with bitters. Pour the mixture into a fresh rocks glass with 1 large ice cube. Add bourbon and stir gently with a swizzle stick. Garnish with blood orange rind and a cherry. Enjoy.

Cooper’s Cup:

Swap out Moscow for Kentucky with this mule from cooper’s crsft

American Mule:

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Cooper’s Craft

2) 1/2 ounce of lime juice

3) 4 ounces of Ginger Beer

4) Lime slices

5) Fresh sprigs of mint

To Make; Add the first three ingredients into an ice filled tin cup, use crushed ice. Garnish with a slice of lime and a fresh mint sprig. Can you resist a good mule?

 

Bourbon Float:

Bourbon For Dessert:Remember that pretty cool person you met, that did’nt like root beer floats? Yeah, me neither. Adding some quality bourbon into this classic dessert instantly turns this into a boozy treat, that I know you will fall in love with. How can you go wrong with root beer bourbon and ice cream?

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Bourbon

2) 3-4 ounces of root beer

3) 1-2 scoops of vanilla ice cream

4) Blood Orange syrup for a garnish ( optional )

To Make; In a highball glass, combine two ounces of bourbon, with three to four ounces of root beer. Place one to two scoops of ice vanilla ice cream into the glass and drizzle blood orange syrup over the top. Serve with a straw and a sundae spoon. Enjoy, see, now you can have bourbon whiskey for dessert, how do you like the sound of that.

To Make Blood Orange Syrup: Combine 1/2 of an ounce of blood orange juice and 1/2 a cup of sugar in a saucepan on medium heat. Stir until sugar has dissolved completely. Once cooled pour syrup into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator until you are ready to use. Great on bourbon floats, ice cream, and more.

Have you ever gone out to dinner and had a dish that you absolutely loved? Have you ever wanted to make that same dish yourself at home? Now, there is no reason why you can’t make it yourself while in the comfort of home sweet home. You no longer have to fear the kitchen, even if you have never made a meal. With these step by step directions, you can make Italian dishes to die for. And are easy to make at home. Put away all of your fears about cooking, and follow these recipes to create some fantastic meals and appetizers that anyone at your table will have a big smile on their faces. Plus you can be proud to say that I made that. You will no longer have to hide the take out packages in the trash bucket.

White Bean And Prosciutto Bruschetta:Fancy Appetizer:

Strips of prosciutto top each toast and are topped in turn with a creamy mound of creamy white beans and sparkling of crisp red onion. If you like, serve these with the bruschetta duet to make a tantalizing trio.

Ingredients:

1) 2 cups of drained and rinsed canned cannelloni beans ( 1 19 ounce can )

2) 1 1/4 teaspoons of wine vinegar

3) 1 tablespoon of olive oil

4) 3/4 teaspoon of chopped fresh thyme, or 1/4 teaspoon of dried thyme

5) 1/2 a teaspoon of salt

6) 1/8 teaspoon of fresh ground Black pepper

7) 2 1/2 teaspoons of fresh chopped parsley

8) 2 ounces of thin sliced prosciutto, fat removed, cut into thin strips

9) Bruschetta

10) 2 tablespoons of minced red onion

To Make; Put the beans in a medium glass, or stainless steel bowl. Using a fork, mash the beans to a coarse puree. Stir in the vinegar, oil, thyme, salt, pepper, and two tablespoons of parsley. Put some of the prosciutto on each of the bruschetta and top with the bean mixture. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of parsley and the red onion over the beans. This is one appetizer that is sure to please any guest at your next dinner party.

Pizza With Garlic Cream And Nettles:Healthy Pie:

Nettles grow wild all year in northern California, and chefs Tyler Rodde and Curtis De Fede use them as many ways as they can. Because raw nettles can make you itch, it is best to handle them with gloves or tongs. Once cooked, the nettles lose their sting and have a deep, earthy flavor that’s delicious with garlic cream.

Ingredients:

1) 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

2) 1 or 2 bulbs of green garlic, depending on the size, see, size does matter. Or 3 scallions, white and tender green parts only, thinly sliced.

3) 1 tablespoon of dry White Wine

4) 1/4 cup of heavy cream

5) Semolina for dusting

6) Two eight ounce balls of pizza dough

7) 6 ounces of buffalo mozzarella, sliced

8) Salt

9) Fresh ground Black Pepper

10) 4 ounces of nettles

11) 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

12) Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano for serving

To Make; Place a pizza stone on the bottom rack of your oven and preheat to five hundred degrees for thirty minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the butter with one tablespoon of water and bring to a simmer. Add the green garlic and cook over moderate heat until softened, about five minutes. Add the White Wine and cook for two minutes. Add the heavy cream and simmer over low heat until reduced by half, about five minutes.

On a semolina dusted work surface, stretch out one of the pieces of dough to a twelve-inch round. Transfer to a semolina dusted pizza peel. Spread half of the garlic cream on the dough, leaving a one-inch border all around. Top with half of the buffalo mozzarella and season with salt, and pepper. In a medium bowl, use tongs or wear gloves to toss the nettles with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Mound half of the nettles on the pizza. Turn on the broiler.

Slide the pizza on to the stone on the bottom rack of the oven and broil for about five minutes, until golden brown and bubbling. Transfer the pizza to cutting board and garnish with shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. Repeat steps to make the second pizza.

Grilled Eggplant And Tomatoes With Parmesan- Basil Crumbs:Vegitarian Delight:

This perfect grilled vegetarian dish uses bread crumbs to add an extra layer of flavor to a classic Italian dish to die for. Tossed with fresh basil and lots of Parmigiano Riggiano to create a great topping for this grilled veggie meal.

Ingredients:

1) 2 cups of fresh coarse bread crumbs

2) Extra virgin olive oil

3) 1 cup chopped basil

4) 1/2 cup of freshly grated Parmigiano Riggiano cheese

5) 3 pounds of eggplant, sliced lengthwise 1/2 an inch thick

6) Salt and freshly ground black pepper

7) 10 tomatoes, sliced 1 inch thick

To Make, Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Spread the bread crumbs on a large rimmed baking sheet and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of oil, toss well. Bake for eight minutes until the bread crumbs are crisp and golden brown. Transfer the bread crumbs to a medium bowl and toss with the basil and cheese.

Light a grill. Brush the eggplant with olive oil and season to taste with salt and fresh ground black pepper. Grill over moderate heat until charred and tender, about two minutes per side. Transfer the eggplant to a platter, fanning them out. Brush the tomatoes with oil and season with salt, and pepper. Grill over moderate heat until charred and hot, about one minute per side.

Arrange the tomato slices over the eggplant and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top and serve right away. Does this fill the craving for all you vegetarians?

Italian Sausage Burgers With Garlicky Spinach:Itailian Burgers:

Ingredients:

1) 10 ounces of baby spinach

2) 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

3) 2 garlic cloves

4) 1 teaspoon of anchovy paste ( optional )

5) Salt

6) 4 slices of provolone cheese

7) 1/4 cup of sun dried tomato paste

8) 4 round ciabatta rolls, split and toasted

To Make; In a large skillet, bring 1/4 inch of water to a boil. Add the spinach and cook, stirring, until just wilted, about one minute. Drain and press as much water as possible. Wipe out the skillet.

In the same skillet, heat two tablespoons of olive oil until shimmering. Add the garlic and anchovy paste and cook on high heat, stirring until fragrant, about one minute. Add the spinach, season with salt and pepper stir until coated, about ten seconds.

Light a grill or preheat a grill pan. Using slightly moistened hands, form the sausage meat into four 4- inch patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Brush the burgers with oil and over moderate heat until browned and crusty on the bottom, about five minutes. Carefully flip the burgers. Top with cheese and grill until the burgers are cooked through and the cheese is melted, about five minutes longer. Spread the pesto on the rolls. Top with burgers and spinach and serve.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Blanco Tequila

2) 2 ounces of fresh lime juice

3) 1/4 of an ounce of Agave Necter

4) A splash of club soda ( optional )

To Make; Combine all ingredients into an ice filled cocktail shaker, shake until good and cold. Condensation will form on the outside of the shaker, then the mixture is good and cold. Pour the mixture and ice into a salt rimmed glass and garnish with a lime wedge. Serve and enjoy.

Strongbow Artisinal Blend Mojito:Easy Mojito:

This easy take on a margarita combines one of the most popular juice cleanse recipes with Tequila for a drink just under 120 calories. See we can drink, and watch our weight at the same time. The spicy cayenne pepper and tart lemon compliments tequila’s bite for a balanced beverage you can enjoy almost guilt free.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Tequila

2) 2 ounces of fresh Lemon Juice

3) 1 ounce of water

To Make; Fill a wine glass 1/4 of the way up with ice cubes. Add white wine, soda, and lemonade. Garnish with a fresh lemon wedge. It is alright to use a store bought pre- made lemonade mix, or a powder mix. We won’t judge you for it.

Paloma:Better Than A Margarita:

The bitter flavor of grapefruit mixed with the bold flavor of tequila equal a surprisingly easy- drinking cocktail. In Mexico, the paloma is actually preferred over margaritas! A traditional Paloma is made with grapefruit soda, bur I like this version that calls for grapefruit juice. You will not be let down, I promise you that my friends.

Ingredients:

1)2 ounces of Tequila Blanco

2) 4 ounces of Grapefruit Juice

3) Pinch of salt

4) 1/2 ounce of lime juice

5) Club Soda ( optional )

To Make; Add all ingredients to an ice filled Collins glass ( tall Glass ) and stir to combine. Top off with some club soda ( optional )

Spring Into Spring With Fruity Cocktails: Use fresh fruits.

It may not seem like it just yet, but spring has arrived. The flowers are starting to bloom, the trees are getting buds on them and the air is starting to warm up. Now is the time to plan on some gatherings, especially after the past year that we have had. How refreshing would it be to have a couple of friends over for a small get together? My guess would be absolutely amazing. I myself can not wait for a backyard barbecue, grilling some burgers, and hot dogs, let’s not forget the mac salad, and of course the cocktails the will be served. This spring, I think we will spring into spring with fruity cocktails. And will be using fresh fruit once it is available. There is nothing better than using fresh fruit of the season, it makes your spring cocktails more springy.

Pomegranate Blitz:Spring Blitz:

This spring time cocktail is a real crowd pleaser. Serve this one at your next gathering, and your guests will be returning next weekend. Make sure you have enough on hand.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 cups of Crown Royal Deluxe

2) 1 1/2 cups of Pomegranate Juice

3) 3 tablespoons of Lime Juice

4) 2- 750 ml bottles of Prosecco, or Sparkling White Wine

5) 1 1/4 cups of Pomegranate Syrup

6) Pomegranate seeds, lime slices, and fresh mint leaves for the garnish

To Make; Using a pitcher, or punch bowl, mix Crown Royal Deluxe, Pomegranate Juice, pomegranate syrup, and lime juice. Add in a handful of pomegranate seeds, a couple slices of lime, and some mint leaves. Fill rocks glasses with ice, pour in the punch halfway over the ice, leave some room at the top. Top off with the prosecco, and garnish with pomegranate seeds, lime slices, and mint leaves. Garnish is optional, unless you want to be fancy.

To make the pomegranate syrup, add equal parts of water, sugar, and pomegranate juice to a saucepan, and bring to a boil. And let mixture cool before use. Bartender tip, make a head of time and store in a squeeze bottle.

Finlandia Raspberry Lemonade:Spiked Lemonade:

The sweet fruity flavor of Finlandia Raspberry flavored Vodka is perfect for this delicious spring or summer drink.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Finlandia Raspberry Vodka

2) 2 ounces of cranberry Juice

3) 2 ounces of Lemonade, fresh is best, but you can get away with a powder mix to save some time.

To Make; Fill a highball glass with some ice. Add all ingredients to the glass. Stir lightly. Garnish with the wedge of a lemon and enjoy. Garnish is optional.

Mist And Orange:Orange Soda With A Kick:

It is time to give orange soda an adult upgrade. Add Canadian Mist for an adult treat that you will more of.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Canadian Mist

2) 5 ounces of Orange Soda

3) 1 maraschino cherry

4) 1 lime cut into wedges

To Make; Fill a highball glass with some ice, add in the Canadian Mist. Top off with the orange soda, and garnish with a lime wedge, or a maraschino cherry. Garnish is completely optional. I do suggest the lime wedge, this way you can squeeze some of the juice from the wedge into your cocktail to brighten it up some.

Blackberry Smash:

Fun With Berries:

Nothing says spring like fresh blackberries. So why not add some to flavor this bourbon drink? You will love the complex layers of flavor along with ease of making this cocktail.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Early Times Bottled- in- Bond Bourbon

2) 1 1/2 ounce of chilled Earl Gray Tea

3) 1/2 an ounce of Blackberry Simple Syrup

4) 1 Blackberry

5) 1 sprig of rosemary

To Make; Add Early Times Bottled- in – Bond Bourbon, chilled Earl Gray Tea, blackberry syrup, and some ice to a mixing glass. Stir well to combine all ingredients. Strain mixture into a coupe glass, or a fun mug as pictured to the right. Garnish with a blackberry and a rosemary sprig. Personally, I omit the rosemary, never cared for its flavor. You can light the rosemary on fire, then douse it out in the cocktail to add a smokey layer of flavor to the drink.

For the blackberry syrup, muddle some blackberries, and add to equal parts of water and sugar. Bring to a boil and let cool. Keep refrigerated for long term storage.

 

Bubbly Mind Eraser:Another Kalua Cocktail:

This bubbly and fruity twist to the classic Mind Eraser, makes it perfect for pairing at any spring, or summer occasion.

Ingredients:

1) 1 ounce of Kahlua

2) 1 ounce of Absolute Vodka

3) 1 ounce of club soda

4) 1 ounce of Champagne or Sparkling White Wine

5) A splash of pineapple juice

6) A strawberry for the garnish

To Make; Add some ice to a highball glass, First add the Kahlua, then the vodka. Add the club soda, champagne or sparkling wine. Top off with a splash of pineapple juice. Garnish with a strawberry, and throw in a straw to help the alcohol go straight to your head. To achieve the layered look, pour each liquor over the back of a tablespoon slowly, as well as the soda and juice. Enjoy.

Grape- Fruit- Mule:

An Easy Mule:

Ingredients:

1) 1/2 an ounce of fresh lime juice

2) 1 1/2 ounces of Grape – Fruit – Rita

3) 1 ounce of Triple Sec

4) 2 ounces of Ginger Beer

5) 2 ounces of Vodka

6) Plenty of Ice

To Make; Fill a mule mug traditionally a copper mug with some ice. Add in all ingredients and stir. Garnish with a grapefruit wheel and enjoy.

 

Hoppy Ever After:

Beer Cocktail:

You might think that a hoppy brew and a fruity cocktail have nothing in common, but as the old saying goes, opposites attract. This better together cocktail, flavors combine to create a unique beer cocktail, that will make even the most skeptical hops lover swoon.

Ingredients:

1) 1 can of IPA ( Indian Pale Ale )

2) 1 1/2 ounces of Skyy Vodka

3) 2 ounces of peach nectar

4) 1 ounce of orange juice

5) A splash of club soda

To Make; Slowly pour equal parts of beer and the Peach Belle into a large stemless wine glass full of ice. Garnish with a fresh peach slice.

The Peach Belle: Combine Vodka, peach nectar, and orange juice in an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake to combine well, strain mixture over fresh ice, and top off with the club soda. Enjoy.

Island Mimosa:

Breakfast Cocktails:

Tropical drink season is upon us, Though I’d argue that there’s never a bad time for a tropical cocktail. After, all it’s one of the Rita’s. Try the island mimosa with a Pine- Apple- Rita. You can thank me later. #HAVEARITA

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Prosecco

2) 2 ounces of Pine- Apple- Rita

3) 1 ounce of Malibu Rum

4) Splash of Grenadine

5) Frozen pineapple chunks

To Make; Add frozen pineapple chunks to a mug or a glass to act as your ice cubes. Pour in the remaining ingredients, and give it a stir. Kick back and enjoy one or two, maybe more.
