Last Minute Gifts For Mother’s Day:

Are you still struggling to find the right gift for mom on her special day? Struggle no more my friends, I am here to save the day for you. First off I hope that you did not forget that mother’s day is this Sunday 05/09/ 2021. However, if this is the case, you don’t have to worry, you can still get something nice for mom, and have it delivered to her in about one hour, depending on where you live. Wine:Perfect For Anytime:

I do not know anyone who does not enjoy a good glass of wine, every once in a while, do you? I can bet that your mother likes a glass of wine, either with a meal, or when in good company.

Does she like a red wine, or perhaps mom would like a white wine? The only person who would know that is you. My wife likes a white muscato, a very sweet white wine. I already have two bottles chilling in the fridge for her, plus one bottle of red muscato. It is to bad that I never got the chance to find out what my mother’s favorite wine was, before she passed away.

If you don’t know what type of wine your mother likes to drink, the best advice I can give you is, pick up a bottle of each. Besides, you know that one bottle of wine is never enough, especially when there is more then one person drinking.

My choice for a red wine is Woodbridge Merlot by Robert Mondavi

My choice for a white wine is Risata Moscato d’Asti by the way this is the brand that I buy for my wife all the time, and she loves it. I am more of the red wine drinker, and I mostly drink a Merlot. Merlot has a low tanning level, not as drying to the mouth. The fewer tannins in a wine the less of the drying effect you will have, and vice versa with a wine that has a high tannin level. You will have a more drying effect. There is no drying effect with a muscato, just so you know.

Sparkling Wine:Champagne

This make a great last minute gift for mothers day, this one will make mom feel extra special. She will think that you spent a fortune on this beverage. You may know sparkling wine by its other name, champagne. Used to celebrate all kinds of occasions. Mother’s day should be no exception.

Mom always deserves to be celebrated, all year round. So, why not celebrate with some champagne? It is’nt as expensive as you think. You do not have to spend an arm and a leg in order to have a great time with someone that you love, and loves you with all her heart.

There are some inexpensive champagnes as well as some very pricey ones. Since I myself is always on a tight budget, I usually get one of the less expensive bottles of champagne.

The less expensive one of my choice is Champagne Nicolas Feuillate Brut

For the more expensive one, my choice is Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label again these are just suggestions, there are plenty of other champagnes to try. I am just looking out for your wallet or purse. You can however, get other champagnes, that have a high price tag on them. For me, I will stick with a plain old wine any day of the week, and save the champagne for New Years Eve.

Whiskey:Whiskey Dreams:

I don’t know your mother, so I don’t know if she likes to sip on a little whiskey now and then. Whiskey makes a great last minute gift for mother’s day, especially for the mothers who like a mellow sipping cocktail. Or, maybe she likes to mix it a bit. Add a little whiskey into a rocks glass, add some ice, and top off with some cola, or club soda.

You can find all kinds of recipes for mixing whiskey in another article on this site. I am always on the look out for cocktail recipes, hopefully you can find a cocktail that peaks your interest. The easiest way to mix whiskey is to simply follow the above recipe.

There are many whiskies on the market today, and can become confusing to figure out. This one you will have to experiment with in order to find the one that you like the best. I am going to give you my choice of whiskey that I like to drink. Hopefully this help you in your decision, and it will most likely surprise you.

Bourbon:Popular Bourbons:

Now, if you have been here before you know that I love Bourbon. For some reason when everyone in my high-school was drinking Jack Daniel’s, I started drinking Jim Beam. I found Bourbon to be smoother than Jack Daniel’s. Plus no one wanted to drink Jim Beam, so that left me being the only one to drink it, and meant that I didn’t have to share my alcohol with anyone.

However if one of the girls wanted a smoother drink, of course I would share some with them. All of those girls are now mothers, and probably still prefer a smoother cocktail. Most of the women that I know like their drinks to be on the smoother and sweeter side of the spectrum.

Even with today being mothers day, you still have time to get mom something delivered her favorite alcohol. Most place that you live can have any of these liquors delivered in about one hour. So, don’t worry you still have time. My choice for Bourbon is Buffalo Trace

Itailian Dishes To Die For: And are easy to make at home.

Have you ever gone out to dinner and had a dish that you absolutely loved? Have you ever wanted to make that same dish yourself at home? Now, there is no reason why you can’t make it yourself while in the comfort of home sweet home. You no longer have to fear the kitchen, even if you have never made a meal. With these step by step directions, you can make Italian dishes to die for. And are easy to make at home. Put away all of your fears about cooking, and follow these recipes to create some fantastic meals and appetizers that anyone at your table will have a big smile on their faces. Plus you can be proud to say that I made that. You will no longer have to hide the take out packages in the trash bucket.

White Bean And Prosciutto Bruschetta:Fancy Appetizer:

Strips of prosciutto top each toast and are topped in turn with a creamy mound of creamy white beans and sparkling of crisp red onion. If you like, serve these with the bruschetta duet to make a tantalizing trio.

Ingredients:

1) 2 cups of drained and rinsed canned cannelloni beans ( 1 19 ounce can )

2) 1 1/4 teaspoons of wine vinegar

3) 1 tablespoon of olive oil

4) 3/4 teaspoon of chopped fresh thyme, or 1/4 teaspoon of dried thyme

5) 1/2 a teaspoon of salt

6) 1/8 teaspoon of fresh ground Black pepper

7) 2 1/2 teaspoons of fresh chopped parsley

8) 2 ounces of thin sliced prosciutto, fat removed, cut into thin strips

9) Bruschetta

10) 2 tablespoons of minced red onion

To Make; Put the beans in a medium glass, or stainless steel bowl. Using a fork, mash the beans to a coarse puree. Stir in the vinegar, oil, thyme, salt, pepper, and two tablespoons of parsley. Put some of the prosciutto on each of the bruschetta and top with the bean mixture. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of parsley and the red onion over the beans. This is one appetizer that is sure to please any guest at your next dinner party.

Pizza With Garlic Cream And Nettles:Healthy Pie:

Nettles grow wild all year in northern California, and chefs Tyler Rodde and Curtis De Fede use them as many ways as they can. Because raw nettles can make you itch, it is best to handle them with gloves or tongs. Once cooked, the nettles lose their sting and have a deep, earthy flavor that’s delicious with garlic cream.

Ingredients:

1) 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

2) 1 or 2 bulbs of green garlic, depending on the size, see, size does matter. Or 3 scallions, white and tender green parts only, thinly sliced.

3) 1 tablespoon of dry White Wine

4) 1/4 cup of heavy cream

5) Semolina for dusting

6) Two eight ounce balls of pizza dough

7) 6 ounces of buffalo mozzarella, sliced

8) Salt

9) Fresh ground Black Pepper

10) 4 ounces of nettles

11) 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

12) Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano for serving

To Make; Place a pizza stone on the bottom rack of your oven and preheat to five hundred degrees for thirty minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the butter with one tablespoon of water and bring to a simmer. Add the green garlic and cook over moderate heat until softened, about five minutes. Add the White Wine and cook for two minutes. Add the heavy cream and simmer over low heat until reduced by half, about five minutes.

On a semolina dusted work surface, stretch out one of the pieces of dough to a twelve-inch round. Transfer to a semolina dusted pizza peel. Spread half of the garlic cream on the dough, leaving a one-inch border all around. Top with half of the buffalo mozzarella and season with salt, and pepper. In a medium bowl, use tongs or wear gloves to toss the nettles with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Mound half of the nettles on the pizza. Turn on the broiler.

Slide the pizza on to the stone on the bottom rack of the oven and broil for about five minutes, until golden brown and bubbling. Transfer the pizza to cutting board and garnish with shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. Repeat steps to make the second pizza.

Grilled Eggplant And Tomatoes With Parmesan- Basil Crumbs:Vegitarian Delight:

This perfect grilled vegetarian dish uses bread crumbs to add an extra layer of flavor to a classic Italian dish to die for. Tossed with fresh basil and lots of Parmigiano Riggiano to create a great topping for this grilled veggie meal.

Ingredients:

1) 2 cups of fresh coarse bread crumbs

2) Extra virgin olive oil

3) 1 cup chopped basil

4) 1/2 cup of freshly grated Parmigiano Riggiano cheese

5) 3 pounds of eggplant, sliced lengthwise 1/2 an inch thick

6) Salt and freshly ground black pepper

7) 10 tomatoes, sliced 1 inch thick

To Make, Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Spread the bread crumbs on a large rimmed baking sheet and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of oil, toss well. Bake for eight minutes until the bread crumbs are crisp and golden brown. Transfer the bread crumbs to a medium bowl and toss with the basil and cheese.

Light a grill. Brush the eggplant with olive oil and season to taste with salt and fresh ground black pepper. Grill over moderate heat until charred and tender, about two minutes per side. Transfer the eggplant to a platter, fanning them out. Brush the tomatoes with oil and season with salt, and pepper. Grill over moderate heat until charred and hot, about one minute per side.

Arrange the tomato slices over the eggplant and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top and serve right away. Does this fill the craving for all you vegetarians?

Italian Sausage Burgers With Garlicky Spinach:Itailian Burgers:

Ingredients:

1) 10 ounces of baby spinach

2) 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

3) 2 garlic cloves

4) 1 teaspoon of anchovy paste ( optional )

5) Salt

6) 4 slices of provolone cheese

7) 1/4 cup of sun dried tomato paste

8) 4 round ciabatta rolls, split and toasted

To Make; In a large skillet, bring 1/4 inch of water to a boil. Add the spinach and cook, stirring, until just wilted, about one minute. Drain and press as much water as possible. Wipe out the skillet.

In the same skillet, heat two tablespoons of olive oil until shimmering. Add the garlic and anchovy paste and cook on high heat, stirring until fragrant, about one minute. Add the spinach, season with salt and pepper stir until coated, about ten seconds.

Light a grill or preheat a grill pan. Using slightly moistened hands, form the sausage meat into four 4- inch patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Brush the burgers with oil and over moderate heat until browned and crusty on the bottom, about five minutes. Carefully flip the burgers. Top with cheese and grill until the burgers are cooked through and the cheese is melted, about five minutes longer. Spread the pesto on the rolls. Top with burgers and spinach and serve.

Spring Into Spring With Fruity Cocktails: Use fresh fruits.

It may not seem like it just yet, but spring has arrived. The flowers are starting to bloom, the trees are getting buds on them and the air is starting to warm up. Now is the time to plan on some gatherings, especially after the past year that we have had. How refreshing would it be to have a couple of friends over for a small get together? My guess would be absolutely amazing. I myself can not wait for a backyard barbecue, grilling some burgers, and hot dogs, let’s not forget the mac salad, and of course the cocktails the will be served. This spring, I think we will spring into spring with fruity cocktails. And will be using fresh fruit once it is available. There is nothing better than using fresh fruit of the season, it makes your spring cocktails more springy.

Pomegranate Blitz:Spring Blitz:

This spring time cocktail is a real crowd pleaser. Serve this one at your next gathering, and your guests will be returning next weekend. Make sure you have enough on hand.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 cups of Crown Royal Deluxe

2) 1 1/2 cups of Pomegranate Juice

3) 3 tablespoons of Lime Juice

4) 2- 750 ml bottles of Prosecco, or Sparkling White Wine

5) 1 1/4 cups of Pomegranate Syrup

6) Pomegranate seeds, lime slices, and fresh mint leaves for the garnish

To Make; Using a pitcher, or punch bowl, mix Crown Royal Deluxe, Pomegranate Juice, pomegranate syrup, and lime juice. Add in a handful of pomegranate seeds, a couple slices of lime, and some mint leaves. Fill rocks glasses with ice, pour in the punch halfway over the ice, leave some room at the top. Top off with the prosecco, and garnish with pomegranate seeds, lime slices, and mint leaves. Garnish is optional, unless you want to be fancy.

To make the pomegranate syrup, add equal parts of water, sugar, and pomegranate juice to a saucepan, and bring to a boil. And let mixture cool before use. Bartender tip, make a head of time and store in a squeeze bottle.

Finlandia Raspberry Lemonade:Spiked Lemonade:

The sweet fruity flavor of Finlandia Raspberry flavored Vodka is perfect for this delicious spring or summer drink.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Finlandia Raspberry Vodka

2) 2 ounces of cranberry Juice

3) 2 ounces of Lemonade, fresh is best, but you can get away with a powder mix to save some time.

To Make; Fill a highball glass with some ice. Add all ingredients to the glass. Stir lightly. Garnish with the wedge of a lemon and enjoy. Garnish is optional.

Mist And Orange:Orange Soda With A Kick:

It is time to give orange soda an adult upgrade. Add Canadian Mist for an adult treat that you will more of.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Canadian Mist

2) 5 ounces of Orange Soda

3) 1 maraschino cherry

4) 1 lime cut into wedges

To Make; Fill a highball glass with some ice, add in the Canadian Mist. Top off with the orange soda, and garnish with a lime wedge, or a maraschino cherry. Garnish is completely optional. I do suggest the lime wedge, this way you can squeeze some of the juice from the wedge into your cocktail to brighten it up some.

Blackberry Smash:

Fun With Berries:

Nothing says spring like fresh blackberries. So why not add some to flavor this bourbon drink? You will love the complex layers of flavor along with ease of making this cocktail.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Early Times Bottled- in- Bond Bourbon

2) 1 1/2 ounce of chilled Earl Gray Tea

3) 1/2 an ounce of Blackberry Simple Syrup

4) 1 Blackberry

5) 1 sprig of rosemary

To Make; Add Early Times Bottled- in – Bond Bourbon, chilled Earl Gray Tea, blackberry syrup, and some ice to a mixing glass. Stir well to combine all ingredients. Strain mixture into a coupe glass, or a fun mug as pictured to the right. Garnish with a blackberry and a rosemary sprig. Personally, I omit the rosemary, never cared for its flavor. You can light the rosemary on fire, then douse it out in the cocktail to add a smokey layer of flavor to the drink.

For the blackberry syrup, muddle some blackberries, and add to equal parts of water and sugar. Bring to a boil and let cool. Keep refrigerated for long term storage.

 

Bubbly Mind Eraser:Another Kalua Cocktail:

This bubbly and fruity twist to the classic Mind Eraser, makes it perfect for pairing at any spring, or summer occasion.

Ingredients:

1) 1 ounce of Kahlua

2) 1 ounce of Absolute Vodka

3) 1 ounce of club soda

4) 1 ounce of Champagne or Sparkling White Wine

5) A splash of pineapple juice

6) A strawberry for the garnish

To Make; Add some ice to a highball glass, First add the Kahlua, then the vodka. Add the club soda, champagne or sparkling wine. Top off with a splash of pineapple juice. Garnish with a strawberry, and throw in a straw to help the alcohol go straight to your head. To achieve the layered look, pour each liquor over the back of a tablespoon slowly, as well as the soda and juice. Enjoy.

Grape- Fruit- Mule:

You will love the twist on a favorite. The Rita’s takes the mule to a whole new level. #HAVEARITA

An Easy Mule:

Ingredients:

1) 1/2 an ounce of fresh lime juice

2) 1 1/2 ounces of Grape – Fruit – Rita

3) 1 ounce of Triple Sec

4) 2 ounces of Ginger Beer

5) 2 ounces of Vodka

6) Plenty of Ice

To Make; Fill a mule mug traditionally a copper mug with some ice. Add in all ingredients and stir. Garnish with a grapefruit wheel and enjoy.

 

Hoppy Ever After:

Beer Cocktail:

You might think that a hoppy brew and a fruity cocktail have nothing in common, but as the old saying goes, opposites attract. This better together cocktail, flavors combine to create a unique beer cocktail, that will make even the most skeptical hops lover swoon.

Ingredients:

1) 1 can of IPA ( Indian Pale Ale )

2) 1 1/2 ounces of Skyy Vodka

3) 2 ounces of peach nectar

4) 1 ounce of orange juice

5) A splash of club soda

To Make; Slowly pour equal parts of beer and the Peach Belle into a large stemless wine glass full of ice. Garnish with a fresh peach slice.

The Peach Belle: Combine Vodka, peach nectar, and orange juice in an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake to combine well, strain mixture over fresh ice, and top off with the club soda. Enjoy.

Island Mimosa:

Breakfast Cocktails:

Tropical drink season is upon us, Though I’d argue that there’s never a bad time for a tropical cocktail. After, all it’s one of the Rita’s. Try the island mimosa with a Pine- Apple- Rita. You can thank me later. #HAVEARITA

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Prosecco

2) 2 ounces of Pine- Apple- Rita

3) 1 ounce of Malibu Rum

4) Splash of Grenadine

5) Frozen pineapple chunks

To Make; Add frozen pineapple chunks to a mug or a glass to act as your ice cubes. Pour in the remaining ingredients, and give it a stir. Kick back and enjoy one or two, maybe more.

Good day everyone, I hope that you all are having a fantastic day, I know that I am. Now, to wine or not to wine, that is the question, the answer is simple my friends, yes. Why would’nt you want to unwind with a nice glass of wine, at the end of a long day? Did you know that one of the best ways to cool off during the warm weather is to chill with some white wine? For this article, I thought that I would share a few recipes to help you cool off once the weather starts to warm up. How does this sound to you? No need to worry, these recipes will not break the bank. It is my hope that everyone will end the day by kicking back with a nice cold glass of red or white wine.

White Wine Spritzer:Chilled Wine Cocktail:

The perfect cocktail to chill out with at the end of a long day.

Ingredients:

1) 3 ounces of Diet 7 Up

2) 3 ounces of White Wine

3) Lemon Slices

To Make;Add some ice to a wine glass. Then pour the white wine in, and top off with the lemon lime soda. Garnish with a lemon slice, or peel. Your choice, garnish is completely optional as well.

You know, on a lot of other sites, the writers tend to get very technical, not here, I give it to you straight from the hip. Hopefully you appreciate the honesty, as well as the easy reading.

Berry Moscato Lemonade:Spiked Lemonade:

There is a lot to love about this cocktail, that I hardly know where to start. Okay, how about with the fresh Blueberries and Blackberries? Or maybe it’s the sweetness of the Moscato. Either way, you truly have to try this cocktail.

Ingredients:

1) 3 cups of The Naked Grape Moscato

2) 1/2 a cup of New Amsterdam Red Berry Vodka

3) 6 cups of Lemonade

4) 6 ounces of Blueberries

5) 6 ounces of Blackberries

6) 2 Lemons thinly sliced

7) Lots of ice

To Make; In a large pitcher, place the blueberries, blackberries, and lemon slices in. Muddle the ingredients a bit to bring out their natural flavors. Add in the moscato, red berry vodka, and lemonade mix. Stir to combine, and keep refrigerated until ready to serve. When you are ready, pour over ice in a Collins or highball glass, and enjoy. As you can imagine this cocktail is perfect for a gathering of friends and family. And, that is something we all need now, do you agree?

Cheerleader Champagne Cocktail:Pom Pom Fun:

A sparkling cocktail that mixes berry goodness with your favorite bubbly. What completes this sweet sipper, is the fun and easy pom pom topper on the end of a Popsicle stick.

Ingredients:

1) Brut Sparkling Wine

2) 1/4 ounce of Creme de Cassis Liqueur

3) 1 Raspberry Frozen Popsicle

To Make; Pour Creme de Cassis into a champagne flute. Put the Popsicle in the glass. Top off with the chilled Sparkling Wine, and serve immediately. This one is perfect for sipping pool side or for any occasion.

Citrus Mint Pinot Grigio:Refreshing Spring Cocktail:

It’s funny, this Pinot Grigio is already known for its fresh crisp flavor, but we can’t seem to stop from adding more flavor for you. This citrus mint cocktail will magnify everything you already love about this classic white wine.

Ingredients:

1) 1 Liter of The Naked Grape Pinot Grigio

2) 1 Lemon thinly sliced

3) 1 Lime thinly sliced

4) 1 Handful of Fresh Mint Leaves

To Make; Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher. Let chill for 2- 4 hours, or overnight if you can wait that long. But who can wait for a refreshing cocktail? Serve when well chilled, or serve over ice, if you don’t feel like waiting. Doesn’t this drink just look like spring time in a glass? Perfect for a warm night, or a cool evening by the fire pit.

Fennel Fizz Cocktail:Fennel Cocktail:

This fizzy wine concoction is the perfect cocktail after a long day. And gives you a chance to try an under used ingredient, fennel.

Ingredients:

1) 1 bottle of Kim Crawford Chardonnay, well chilled

2) 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Fennel Seeds

3) 1 cup of sugar

4) 1/2 a fennel cut into 6 wedges

5) Club Soda

6) Fennel or Dill Fronds to garnish

To Make; In a small saucepan bring sugar, water and fennel seeds to a boil to make a fennel simple syrup. Simmer for 15 minutes. Let cool for 30 minutes or overnight, strain to remove the fennel seeds. Divide the wine between five glasses filled with ice. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of the fennel syrup to each glass and stir. Garnish with the fennel wedges and fronds. Add a splash of club soda for the fizz and serve. Your friends will thank you a thousand time over.

Great White Wine Slush:

Tropical Cocktail:

Seeing a Great White? Scary. Sipping on a Great White? Definitely delicious. We have mixed up this frosty drink that is easy to make, and unlike it’s namesake, is a delightful addition to any beach.

Ingredients:

1) 3 ounces of White Wine

2) 2 ounces of Smirnoff Sourced Pineapple

3) 2 ounces of Frozen Lemonade

4) 1 ounce of Club Soda

5) Pineapple wedges for the garnish

6) 1 Scoop of crushed ice

To Make; Pour the White Wine, Smirnoff Sourced Pineapple, and the frozen lemonade into a blender with the crushed ice. Blend the mixture until smooth, but still slightly slushy. Pour into a wine or martini glass. Top off with the club soda, garnish with a pineapple wedge, and serve. Enjoy on the beach, by the pool side, or anywhere you feel like having a frozen cocktail. And who doesn’t like frozen cocktails? Especially on a warm day. It’s the perfect way to cool off, sure beats a Popsicle.

Who does’nt love a good Martini? I mean this classic cocktail used to be a household staple. This is the adult version of one of our favorite childhood candies. Tart yet sweet, the Lemon Drop is typically drank as a shot or straight up in a martini glass. Add a sugar rim to your glass for an added kick of sweetness.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of vodka

2) 1/2 an ounce of cointreau

3) 1/2 an ounce of fresh Lemon Juice

4) Sugar to rim the glass ( optional )

To Make; Pour all ingredients into an ice filled cocktail shaker, shake for 10- 15 seconds or until cold. Srain the liquid into two shot gasses, or a martini glass. And enjoy.

The 50/50 Martini:Perfect Martini:

The cocktail we know as the martini, has a muddy origin story. It’s name has changed over the years, as have its contents. But by the early 20th century, what we now refer to as the martini was codified as a mix of London Dry Gin and dry vermouth, garnished with a lemon twist or an olive or two. Since then, it has permeated the American culture and become an unrivaled symbol of sophistication.In its famous conical glass, the martini is a visual currency the world over, on millions of menus and neon signs. In many ways the martini is THE cocktail.

Our take on the perfect martini consists of half Botanist Gin and half dry vermouth. This is the lighter variation, making it the perfect cocktail for spring and summer weather.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Botanist Gin

2) 1 1/2 ounces of Dry Vermouth

3) A dash of Orange Bitters

4) Lemon peels or olives for the garnish ( Not Optional )

To Make; Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, and stir until outside of the glass becomes frosted. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist or a couple of olives.

French Martini:Flavorful Martini:

Originally created for Chambord’s worldwide promotion, the key ingredient to this cocktail is the Chambord Liqueur. The unique feature for this drink is that it was created specifically for a liqueur, which means substituting it would leave a bland taste.

Ingredients:

1) 1 1/2 ounces of Vodka

2) 1/4 of an ounce of Chambord Raspberry Liqueur

3) 1/4 of an ounce of Pineapple Juice

4) 1 Twist of a Lemon peel to garnish

To Make; Pour all ingredients into an ice filled cocktail shaker, shake vigorously for 5 – 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass and enjoy.

Olivette:Light Martini:

In this lighter version of the classic Gin Martini, St.Germain provide the perfect balance of flavors: the botanicles of the Gin, the wine notes of the vermouth, and the fruity notes of the St.- Germain.

Ingredients:

1) 1/2 an ounce of St.-Germain Elderflower Liqueur

2) 1 ounce of Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth

3) 1 ounce of Oxley Dry Gin

To Make; Add ingredients into a chilled mixing glass filled with ice cubes. Stir well to combine and pour into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a green olive or two. Enjoy.

The Churchill Martini:A True Classic:

A quirky and complicated man, Winston Churchill was known for his love of livations. when, asked how he would like his Gin Martini prepared he replied ” I would like to observe the vermouth from across the while I drink my martini”. Served chilled and neat, this cocktail contains nothing more than gin and ice in proximity to a bottle of vermouth. Wacky and unique just like its name sake.

Ingredients:

1) 2 1/2 ounces of Plymouth Gin

2) 1 scoop of ice

3) 1 green olive to garnish

To Make; Add gin to a mixing glass full of ice cubes and stir until well chilled. While stirring, glance occasionally at a bottle of vermouth from across the room. Srain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a single green olive. Enjoy

Martinique:Variation Of The French Martini:

A variation of the French Martini, this recipe replaces the pineapple juice for the more exotic Caribbean flavor of mango. Chambord is one of our favorite cocktail additions– when we restock our bar, we always make sure a bottle of this is on the list.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Chambord

2) 1 ounce of Vodka

3) 1/2 an ounce of lemon juice

4) 1/2 an ounce of mango juice

To Make; Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with some ice cubes, and shake until frosty cold. Strain into a chilled martini glass, then enjoy. No garnish needed.

Apple Cider Honey Jack Martini:Apple Jack For Adults:

This cider honey martini is fall in a glass, but works just as well for the spring and summer months. The perfect balance of sweet and tart. Thanks to yummy ingredients like apple cider, fresh lemon juice, Honey Jack, and a pinch of cinnamon. Doesn’t this sound sophisticated?

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey

2) 1 ounce of unfiltered apple cider

3) 1/2 an ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice

4) Fresh ground cinnamon to taste*

5) Sliced apples for the garnish ( optional )

To Make: Combine Honey Jack, lemon, and cider in a cocktail shaker with some ice and a pinch of cinnamon, shake until well chilled. Rim the martini glass with a mixture of ground cinnamon and sugar. Strain the liquid into the martini glass, then garnish with the apple slices if you choose to do so. Enjoy any time of the year.

Easy Chicken Crock Pot Recipes:

Now that the world has been starting to re-open, do you have a busy day? Do you find yourself needing a little help when it comes to dinner time? If you answer yes to either of these questions, then stick around for a while, I have the perfect solution for you. Easy chicken crock pot recipes. Some of these recipes will require some preparation time, but don’t worry, you can do all the prep work the night before. Then in the morning all you need to do is throw everything into the crock pot before you head out to work. The best part of this is, once you get back home, dinner is done and ready to be served. The beauty of crock pot recipes is the work is being done while you are at work, or somewhere else out of the house.

Chicken And White Bean Cassoulet:Crock Pot Dinner:

Ingredients:

1) 1/2 a pound of gigante or white Lima beans

2) 6 chicken drumsticks

3) Kosher salt

4) Freshly ground black pepper

5) 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

6) 2 medium leeks, washed and chopped

7) 4 carrots, cut into rounds

8) 4 cups of chicken stock

9) 2 cups of water

10) 2 bay leaves

11) 2 tablespoons of flat leaf parsley

To Make:

Step One:

Soak the beans in a large bowl overnight with water covering the beans by three inches.

Step Two:

Season the chicken with one teaspoon of salt and 1/2 a teaspoon of pepper. In a 5-6 quart crock pot, heat the oil over high heat until hot. Place the chicken in the crock pot and sear the chicken, turning until browned on all sides. About six to eight minutes total.

Step Three:

Stir leeks and carrots into the crock pot, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the leeks are softened, about four minutes. Stir in the chicken stock, water and bay leaves, as well as the reserved beans, 1/2 a teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Simmer on low, covered, until the meat beans are very tender, about five hours. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve, sprinkled with the parsley. Do all the prep work the night before while the beans are soaking, then throw it all in the crock pot before you leave in the morning, When you get home, you have a hearty and healthy dinner for the family.

Serve with a glass of white wine and enjoy

Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatori With Linguine And Caper Berries:

Boy oh boy, that is a mouthful to say, and an even better mouthful to eat. This one will require a little work when you get back home.Perfect Pasta Dinner:

Ingredients:

1) 1/2 teaspoon of unsalted butter

2) 1 1/2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil ( plus some more for drizzling )

3) Six skinless chicken thighs bone- in fat trimmed

4) Kosher salt

5) Freshly ground black pepper

6) 1/2 a cup of white wine

7) 1 1/2 yellow onion finely diced

8) 6 large garlic cloves, finely minced

9) 1/4 cup of sweet paprika

10) 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes

11) 2 cups of low sodium chicken broth

12) 14 ounces of crushed tomatoes ( 1 can )

13) 12 caper berries in vinager, stems removed and halved lengthwise

14)1 pond of linguine pasta

15) Freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano, for serving

16) Coarsely chopped flat leaf parsley ( for the garnish )

To Make:

Step One:

In a large skillet, heat the butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Add the chicken to the skillet, making sure not to crowd the pan. Cook until seared and golden brown, about four minutes per side. Add the white wine to the chicken and deglaze the pan. Transfer the chicken and juices to the slow cooker.

Step Two:

Return the skillet to the stove and set over medium heat. Pour in a half a tablespoon of olive oil and add the onions, garlic, paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes to the pan. Cook until the onions have lightly browned, about four minutes. Add in the spiced onion mixture to the slow cooker. Pour in the chicken broth, and crushed tomatoes, stir to combine. Cover and cook for three hours on high, until the chicken is tender.

Step Three:

Transfer the chicken to a work surface and, using two forks shred the chicken and discard the bones. Stir the shredded chicken into the sauce, add the caper berries, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step Four:

To serve, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Pro tip, add the salt to water after it comes to a boil, this will prevent the bottom of the pot from staining. Cook the pasta until al dente. ( firm to the tooth ) Drain water from the pot, reserving 1/2 a cup of the pasta water. Transfer the pasta to a large skillet set over medium heat and add the chicken cacciatori and pasta water to the noodles. Toss until the linguine is thoroughly coated. Transfer to serving bowls, sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with chopped parsley. Remember you should still have some of the White wine to serve with this. Get two bottles to be on the safe side.

Slow Cooker Sweet Paprika Chicken Tacos:Tasty Chicken Tacos:

I do not know a single person who does not like a good taco. And now you can have a healthy version.

Ingredients:

1) 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter

2) 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil

3) 6 skinless bone- in chicken thighs, fat trimmed

4) Kosher salt

5) Freshly ground black pepper

6) 1/2 a cup of white wine

7) 1 finely diced sweet yellow onion

8) 6 finely minced large garlic cloves

9) 1/3 cup of sweet paprika

10) 1/2 a teaspoon of chili powder

11) 1 cup of low sodium chicken broth

12) 1 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes

13) 3 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime- juice

14) 3/4 of a cup of coarsely chopped cilantro leaves packed

15) 12 warm 6 inch flour tortillas

16) Shredded red cabbage for serving

17) Sour cream for serving

18) Sliced avocado for serving

19) Cotija cheese for serving

To Make:

Step One:

In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium- high heat. Season the chicken with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Add the chicken to the skillet, making sure not to crowd the pan. Cook until richly seared and golden brown, about 4 minutes per side. Pour in the white wine and deglaze the pan. Transfer the chicken to the slow cooker.

Step Two:

Return the skillet to the stove and set over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, paprika, and chili powder, and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the spiced onion mixture to the slow cooker. Pour in the chicken broth and crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Cover and cook for two hours on high, or for four hours on low heat, until the chicken is tender.

Step Three:

Remove chicken from the sauce and transfer to a work surface. Using two forks, shred the meat and discard the bones. Stir the shredded chicken back into the sauce and add the lime juice, and the chopped cilantro. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step Four:

Using a slotted spoon, spoon the pulled chicken onto the warm tortillas and top with shredded cabbage, sour cream, avocado and cotija cheese, or whatever it is that you like to put on your tacos. Serve right away and enjoy.

Slow Cooker Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken Pot Pie:Dutch Oven Pot Pie:

Ingredients:

1) 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

2) 2 medium-sized chopped onions

3) 1 chopped celery stalk

4) Kosher salt

5) Freshly ground black pepper

6) 1 tablespoon of all- purpose flour

7) 8 cups of chicken stock

8) 2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into cubes.

9) 3/4 pound of pot pie noodles, or wide egg noodles

10) 2 fresh thyme sprigs

To Make:

Heat the slow cooker on high until hot. Stir in the butter until melted, then stir in the onions, celery, 3/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 a teaspoon of black pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, about 6- 8 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the chicken stock, chicken, noodles, and the thyme, then reduce the heat to low. Cook until chicken is very tender and the noodles are falling apart, about 6-8 hours. Season the pot pie with salt and pepper to taste. Then serve, and enjoy

Make Ahead Of Time:

You want to make things easier for yourself, am I right? Well, this is easy chicken crock pot recipes that you can make ahead of time, the night before. Then all you have to do is add everything to the crock pot in the morning and plug it in, and let the appliance do its job. Then you get home from work or from running all those errands, dinner is done and ready to serve a hungry family, or just for yourself.

Churches all around still do this tradition every Sunday during the services. Now, if you believe in the father, the son, and the holy ghost, drinking wine keeps us closer to the son who sits at the right hand of the father. White wines pair real well with white meats, like chicken, as well as fish. White meats tend to be the dry side, so, with this the sweetness of the white wine brings out the nuances of the white meats. Plus, it makes the white meats more palatable. Meaning, easier to eat. The sweetness make it easier to tolerate the dry meats and fish.

Normally I give you cocktail recipes, this time I am giving you some recipes for dinner and give you my suggestion for what to drink with these recipes. Beef it’s what’s for dinner. Cuban Beef Casserole With Corn Scallion Biscuit Topping:

Ingredients:Cuban Beef Caserole:

1) 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

2) 1 onion finely chopped

3) 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1/4 inch dice

4) 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1/4 inch dice

5) Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

6) 4 garlic cloves, very thinly sliced

7) 4 tomatoes-halved crosswise, seeded and diced

8) 2 teaspoons of ground cumin

9) 2 teaspoons of dried oregano

10) 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon

11) Pinch of ground cloves

12) 1/2 a cup of pitted pimento- stuffed green olives, halved

13) 1/2 a cup of golden raisins

Topping:

1) 1 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour

2) 3/4 cup of finely ground cornmeal

3) 2 teaspoons of baking powder

4) 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

5) 2 tablespoons of kosher salt

6) 1 stick plus 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, chilled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes

7) 3/4 cup of whole milk, plus more for brushing

8) 1 cup of thinly sliced scallions ( about 6 scallions )

To Make:

Step One; In a large, deep skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the onion, and the red, and green pepper, cook over moderate heat, stirring, until softened, about eight minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add the garlic and ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and most of the liquid is evaporated, about eight minutes. That’s a total of sixteen minutes to complete step one.

Step Two; Add the tomatoes, cumin, oregano, cinnamon, and cloves and cook over moderate heat until the tomatoes just start to soften, about five minutes. Stir in the olives, raisins, and 1/2 cup of water, and season with salt and pepper. Scrape the mixture into a 9-by-13 inch casserole dish.

Step Three; Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, wisk the flour with the cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, and 2 teaspoons of salt. Using a pastry blender, or two knives, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal with some pea- sized pieces remaining. Stir in the 3/4 cup of milk and scallions just until a raggy dough forms.

Step Four; Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead just until comes together. Using your hands, press the dough into a 1/2 inch- thick circles and stamp out three even rounds. Gather the scraps together and press the dough together, and stamp out three more rounds. Arrange the biscuits on top of the meat mixture and brush the top of the biscuits with milk. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the filling is bubbling and the biscuits are risen.

Macaroni And Beef Casserole:Macaroni And Beef:

Ingredients:

1) 1 pound of elbow macaroni

2) 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, plus more for tossing

3) 1 finely chopped onion

4) 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1/4 inch dice

5) 2 pounds of ground beef

6) 2 teaspoons of ground cumin

7) 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour

8) One 15- ounce can of crushed tomatoes

9) 1/2 a cup of chicken stock or low sodium broth

10) 1/2 cup of heavy cream

11) 1/4 cup of chopped parsley

12) 6 ounces of shredded sharp cheddar cheese ( 2 cups )

13) Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

14) 1/3 cup of Panko bread crumbs

15) 3 scallions thinly sliced

To Make:

Step One; Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large pot of boiling and salted water, cook the macaroni until al Dante. ( Firm to the tooth ) Drain well and transfer the macaroni to a bowl. Add a drizzle of olive oil and toss well.

Step Two; Meanwhile in a large, deep skillet, heat the three tablespoons of olive oil. Add the bell pepper and onion, and cook over moderately high heat, stirring until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef and cumin and cook over high heat, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and any liquid has evaporated, about 8 minutes. Add the flour and Cook until no floury taste remains. Stir in the tomatoes and stock, and simmer until thickened, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan, about 3 minutes.

Step Three; Remove from the heat and stir in the macaroni, cream, parsley and one cup of the cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper.

Step Four; Transfer the mixture into a large ceramic baking dish about 2 inches deep. Sprinkle the remaining cup of cheese and the panko bread crumbs on top. Bake for about 15 minutes, until the casserole is bubbling, and the cheese is melted. Let stand for five minutes. Scatter the scallions on top and serve. Your family is going to love this one. They will be asking for it every week.

Natchitoches- Style Meat Pies:

Ingredients:

1) 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter

2) 1/2 pound of lean ground beef

3) 1/2 pound of ground pork

4) 1/4 pound of chicken livers, trimmed and finely chopped

5) 1 onion finely chopped

6) 1 small green pepper finely chopped

7) 4 large garlic cloves, minced

8) 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

9) 1/2 a teaspoon of ground cloves

10) 1/2 a teaspoon of chopped thyme

11) Salt and freshly ground black pepper

12) 1/4 cup of low- sodium chicken broth

13) 16 empanada wrappers, thawed. Yes you can buy these already made to save some time. Look for the Goya brand in your grocers freezer section.

14) Vegetable oil for frying

15) Ranch dressing mixed with chopped cilantro for serving

To Make;

Step One; In a large skillet, melt the butter. Add the beef, pork, and chicken livers and cook over moderate heat, stirring until lightly browned, about 8 minutes. Add the onion, bell pepper, garlic, cayenne, cloves and thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender, about 6 minutes. Tilt the pan and pour off the fat. Add the broth and scrape up any brown bits stuck to the bottom of the skillet. Scrape the filling into a bowl, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes, until chilled.

Step Two; Arrange the 8 empanada wrappers on a work surface. Lightly brush the edges of the wrappers with water, and spoon half of the meat filling into the centers. Fold in half, pressing out any air, and seal, crimp the edges with a fork. Transfer the pies to a wax paper- lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

Step Three; Line a baking sheet with paper towels and place a rack on top. In a large, deep skillet, heat 1 1/2 inches of oil to 375 degrees. Fry the meat pies in batches, turning once, until golden brown, about five minutes. Drain on the rack and serve with the ranch dressing. This is a good one to keep on hand in the freezer, makes a great after-school snack.

All Time Favorite Hamburger:Best Burger:

Ingredients:

1) 3/4 pound of ground chuck, about 80 percent lean

2) 3/4 pound of ground sirloin, about 90 percent lean

3) Vegetable oil

4) Salt and freshly ground black pepper

5) 4 Kaiser rolls or hamburger buns, split and toasted

6) Grilled Chile relish

To Make; Light a grill. In a bowl, mix the ground meats and gently form into four- 4 inch patties, about 1 1/2 inches thick. Make a 1/2 inch indentation in the center of each patty, then lightly rub with the oil and season generously with salt and pepper. Hamburger loves salt and pepper. Grill the burgers over high heat turning once, about 6 minutes per side for medium rare. Transfer to the toasted buns, top with relish and serve. To make it a complete meal, serve with a side of french fries, or a potato salad. Beef it’s what’s for dinner, plus my suggestion for a pairing.

Celebrate National Wine Day At Home This Year:

Lately it seems like there is a national day for everything under the sun. National hot dog day, national cheeseburger day, and national you get my point day. Now, when I heard that there is a national wine day, well, you know this is something that I can get behind. What about you, can you get behind national wine day? Since this is a day set aside for enjoying a glass of your favorite wine, I thought that I might share my favorite wine with you. We will get into that a little further down in this article. First, you are probably wondering, when is national wine day? that is a very good question, and I am going tell you when it is. Since we are still in the middle of a pandemic, it is best to celebrate national wine day at home this year. Don’t you think so?

When Is National Wine Day?Wine For Two:

Think Spring:Think Spring Time:

I know what your saying, how can I think spring with all of this crazy weather that is happening across the globe? We are in the third week of February now, so spring is right around the corner. Just another two weeks of winter left for this year.

The calendar has the first day of spring set for March 2nd. And, soon after that I believe that we spring the clocks ahead as well. Check your calendars, it seems like everything is early this year, like Easter and the days before it, like, ash Wednesday, and good Friday. I think the people that make the calender, are trying rush this year.

Maybe, they think that it will help to push this pandemic out of the way. Either way, I am looking forward to spring, and sitting on a shore line with a fishing pole, and an ice-cold beer. Hopefully one or two of my sons will find some time to join me on the shore this year. That will be a great day to mark on the calendar. I know that finding time to enjoy the simple things in life can be trying at time. Hopefully we make this one thing happen this year. Do you have any special plans for this year? Since last year this pandemic hit right around her birthday, a weekend in Lake George with her sister and her husband as well. Her idea, not mine, Happy wife, happy life. Well as most of you know, Valentines day is right around the corner, boy did it get here quick this year. This year Valentines day falls on a Sunday, this coming Sunday as matter of fact, are you prepared for it? Have you gone and got everything you need to let your lover know, how much you love them? Have you gone and bought them a box of chocolates and a card, or perhaps a stuffed animal? You know, that I’m talking to you men out there right? Well you only have five more days to get the job done fellas, otherwise you will end up in the proverbial dog house. And don’t forget to make those dinner reservations, or if you are planning on cooking dinner for a romantic night at home. We are still in the grips of a pandemic after all. Either case, make sure you have plenty of wine this valentine’s day.

Otello Highball:Otello Highball:

This is a very simple cocktail to make, you can not mess this one up, no matter how hard you try too. The perfect cocktail for lovers.

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Otello Sparkling Lambrusco

2) 1 ounce of Bourbon of your choosing

3) 1 ounce of Sweet Vermouth

4) 1-2 Dashes of Orange Bitters

To Make; Add all the ingredients into an ice filled Collins glass. Stir together to combine and chill. See I told you this was an easy one to make, not to mention that it a little something for the both of you.

Spirits used:

Otello Sparkling Lambusco

Buffalo Trace Bourbon

Cinzano Rosso Sweet Vermouth

Regans Orange Bitters

This is everything you need in order to make this enticing cocktail all in one stop. If you can’t score some points with your lover with this cocktail, well, then you must have really screwed things up buddy.

Otello Merry Manhattan:Merry Manhatten:

Ingredients:

1) 2 ounces of Otello Sparkling Lambrusco

2) 1 ounce of Buffalo Trace Bourbon

3) 1 ounce of Cinzano Rosso Sweet Vermouth

4) 1-2 Dashes of Regans Orange Bitters

To Make; Here is the good news, you already have all of these ingredients ordered. They are the same as for the above cocktail. Add all the ingredients into an ice filled mixing glass, stir together to combine, until chilled. Strain the liquid into a chilled champagne coup glass. Garnish with fresh rosemary and cranberries, Wow, what a sexy cocktail this one is. What do you think?

Spring Sangria Slush:

Ingredients:

1) 6 ounces of Absolute Elyx

2) 4 ounces of Pineapple Juice

3) 2 ounces of Fresh Lemon Juice

4) 1/2 a cup of Frozen Raspberries

5) 1/4 of a cup of Frozen Pineapple Chunks

6) Half of a 750 ml Bottle of Grenache Wine

7) A pinch of Freshly Grated Nutmeg

To Make; Combine the wine, fresh lemon juice, nutmeg, half of your pineapple juice in a quart freezer bag and zip closed. Squeeze the bag gently for a couple of seconds to thoroughly combine the contents, and then lay flat inside of the freezer overnight ( or 8 hours ) until frozen. Once frozen remove the bag from the freezer, and use your hands to break up the contents inside the bag until they resemble a slush. Use a large spoon to scoop out the mixture into wine glasses, fill 3/4 the way with your wine mixture. Next combine remaining pineapple juice, Vodka, and the frozen fruit chunks in a cocktail shaker and shake to mix. Pour the juice and Vodka mixture over the frozen wine into your wine glasses. Garnish with additional frozen fruit and serve with a straw, Maybe this cocktail can help to usher in spring. If not, at least you will be plenty warm enough for the night.

Thinking Spring:

Rojo Whiskey Sour:

Ingredients:

1)2 ounces of Bourbon or Rye Whiskey

2) 2 1/2 ounces of Sour Mix

3) 1/2 ounce of Red Wine

To Make; Mix Whiskey and sour mix in a cocktail shaker with some ice, shake until mixture is cold. Strain into a rocks glass with some fresh ice. Then top off with a floater of the red wine. Serve as is and enjoy. So, make sure you have plenty of wine for valentine’s day.

I sincerely hope that all of you have a great valentine’s day. Hopefully these cocktails can arm you with a way to show the person you love the most, that you truly do love them.
